About Julia

My musical path as singer, musician, vocal coach and choir director has taken me into many directions. I completed my degree in cultural sciences in Hildesheim in 2001 and I had my vocal training with Astrid Kaitinnis in Hannover. My path then led me to the legendary German jazz singer Sylvia Droste in Bielefeld, to the master of scat singing Ines Reiger in Schloss Esterhazy in Austria, and to a workshop on Belting in Musical Theater with vocal coach and voice scientist Jo Estill in New York.

I made my diploma at the Complete Vocal Institute of Catherine Sadolin in Copenhagen (DK), working now a s an authorised teacher in CVT. The focus in this course is on the clear structure of the various sound possibilities of the voice and how they are produced. The international exchange that is fostered at CVI is both professionally stimulating and a lot of fun as well.

I now live in Hildesheim together with my partner and collaborator Stefan Wurz, a fellow musician, pianist and composer. From here is where I incorporate my new experiences and knowledge into my teaching at the Stage School in Hamburg, the HMT Rostock, the University of Hildesheim and since 2007 as the choir director and vocal coach of the Ö Chor choir. I also work with the Glory Singers gospel choir in Itzum near Hildesheim, and teach many private students in north and south germany.

Being a singer of various styles, and a vocal coach and choir director, it is very important to me to support others, to help them develop an awareness of their innate ability to express themselves and convey the joy they find in music, and to pass it on in their music.
